ABOUT US

Horizon Aviation, LLC provides part 61 flight training at Falcon Field Atlanta Regional Airport (KFFC) in Peachtree City, Georgia, and Baldwin County Regional Airport (KMLJ) in Milledgeville, Georgia. Flight training is done in our fleet of seven Piper Archer and Piper Cherokee (PA28) aircraft, with highly trained and proficient FAA Certified flight instructors who place safety and student success at the forefront. Horizon maintains a staff of around 10 certified flight instructors to allow ample availability for training at times that best suit our students.  Students have the option to train in aircraft with equipment ranging from Technically Advanced with the latest generation Garmin technology, to classic six pack panel configurations. 

 

Students can train for Private Pilot certificates, Instrument Rating add-ons, Commercial Pilot certificates, and can even train to become Certified Flight Instructors (CFI and CFII). For those seeking airline careers, we offer a six month from zero time to commercial pilot program, in which students can expect to fly 4-5 days per week. Horizon has a consistent record of student success on FAA checkrides and in their careers beyond, along with a flawless safety record. Our students can fly as much as they desire, with top of the line instructors, and are trained to a much higher standard than other training programs. We only bring the best instructors on board and students realize that on day one. Our instructors have a passion for flying, and work hard to help every student thrive. All maintenance is performed by FAA certified Airframe & Powerplant mechanics with over 25 years of experience and IA certification.

KEL JOHNSON

Owner, Lead Flight Instructor

Kel graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology where he achieved All-American honors in baseball along with high academic honors. He attended Mercer University for graduate studies. He has acquired 9 aviation certificates and ratings and now operates as an airline pilot flying the Boeing 737. His years of flying have led to over 2,000 hours in Piper Archer and Cherokee aircraft. He is certified by the FAA as a Flight Instructor (CFI), Instrument Instructor (CFII), and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI).

RYAN TAYLOR

Certified Flight Instructor

Ryan is a first generation pilot who greatly enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for flying and helping others achieve their goals in aviation. He specializes in tailoring training to each individual student and finding a way to help them succeed. Ryan is certified by the FAA as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor (CFI).

ALEX TARPLEY

Certified Flight Instructor

Alex knew early that his passion was flying and he wanted to pursue a career as a professional pilot, leading to him obtaining his commercial pilot certificate at age 18. He has been sharing his passion for aviation as an instructor ever since, and enjoys contributing to newcomers to aviation as a highly knowledgeable and methodical instructor with a great rate of student success. He is certified by the FAA as a commercial pilot and flight instructor.

ALEX SPITZER

Certified Flight Instructor

Alex excelled in his training at Horizon Aviation and is a highly proficient commercial pilot and flight instructor. He is excited to pass on his knowledge and skills to aspiring pilots.  Alex is certified by the FAA as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor (CFI). 

NATHAN MORGAN

Certified Flight Instructor

Nathan is a highly proficient pilot with extensive experience in visual and instrument flight conditions. Nathan's students appreciate his knowledge of aviation and his passion for teaching flight. Nathan is certified by the FAA as a Commercial Pilot and Flight Instructor (CFI), Instrument Instructor (CFII), and Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI).

CAMERON WILSON

Certified Flight Instructor

Cameron grew up in an aviation family and has always had a passion for flying, and began training to be a commercial pilot at a young age.  He has since been certified as a commercial pilot and flight instructor by the FAA and enjoys teaching the flight skills he has acquired over the years. Cameron has years of experience instructing in Piper Cherokee aircraft and is a highly proficient pilot and instructor, instructing for Horizon at our KMLJ location in Baldwin County, GA.
